Can anyone resist the beauty of the sea and its purity? A place where you get lost in its refreshing breeze and its sparkling blue water. Can any Egyptian deny that the love for the Nile runs through the veins? An everlasting stream of fresh water. The Mediterranean Sea and the Nile River were destined to meet on the land of Ras El Bar in Damietta, in a symphony of love. The greatness of Allah is manifested in the miraculous landscape as mentioned in the Holy Quran “He has let free the two bodies of flowing water meeting together (19) Between them is a Barrier Which they do not transgress (20)”. To enjoy this miracle that evokes feelings of tranquility, come visit the concrete walkway to witness how these two streams converge and their waters run side by side as two lovers.

It’s six in the morning, the golden rays shine down the glimmering water of the Nile River. This river flows through the fertile lands of Damietta till it reaches its last destination besides the Mediterranean Sea. The harmony between these two seas is unbelievable, as they flow smoothly without any visible barrier between them. The Nile River maintains its majestic stability and characteristics of freshwater, just like the Euphrates while the Mediterranean Sea remains glorious with its mighty waves and salty waters.

At this time of the day, you will be touched by the sounds of white seagulls, searching for their breakfast everywhere. Those happy morning squawking sounds are only interrupted by the horns of ferries and fleets that roam the seas to get their catch of the day. Make sure you neither miss the taste of golden sweet Meshabek nor the delightful scent of baked sweet potatoes coming out from the street vendors’ ovens.
The history of the Lessan area goes back to 1938. The Egyptian Port Authority constructed a concrete walkway 350m long and 2.5m wide to protect the coastline from erosion caused by the seawater.

Look at the map, you will find the shape of a triangle, whose sides are the Nile River in the east and the Mediterranean Sea in the west. The base is Damietta port, while the Lessan area is the upper vertex of the triangle. The magnificent landscape is completed with Ras El Bar lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the world, which used to guide fishing ships heading to Izbat Al Burj.
Visiting the Lessan area will fulfill your quest and leave you with extraordinary adventures and immortal memories. Hurry up and head to Ras El Bar City during sunrise or sunset to witness one of God's wonders.
