Trawling & Fishing Vessels

The largest fishing fleet in Egypt is in Damietta as it contains around 60 % of fishing vessels and 1.5 % of locals work in this field.

It has always been known as the manufacturer of fishing vessels, as people of Izbat Al Burj are specialized in this industry.

Shipbuilding industry has evolved from wooden to metal ships equipped with the latest devices and tools to operate in international waters.
Al Samboskani, one of the most significant factories in Egypt, that exports vessels to Greece, Cyprus, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia.

Dairy Production

Damietta is prominent for its dairy production, as it has been chosen to participate in the International Food Exhibition (Anuga).

There are 180 cheese laboratories in Damietta.

Agriculture

54 % of Damietta is agricultural areas.

The most prominent agricultural crops are rice, corn, and cotton.
Damietta’s agricultural exports reached 3,670,000 tons from the beginning of January till the 22nd of July, 2020.

The students of Damietta University, Faculty of Agriculture, launched an urban rooftop farming campaign that aims to plant rooftop gardens without using soil.
